Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in immunology. It is expected that students understand and explain the structure, functioning and importance of human immune system in term of health and disease. Students practically know and use immunological and immunochemical methods. Students explain the importance and application of known techniques

Wymagania wstępne

Basic knowledge in cell biology.

 

Zakres tematyczny

An introduction to human immune system- structure and function. Innate immunity - the first line of defense. The adaptive immune response - the humoral response and T cell – mediated immunity. The immune system in health and disease – allergy and autoimmunity. Defense mechanisms against pathogens.

Metody kształcenia

Oral presentation (lecture in the form of the ppt presentation).

Practical methods (lab classes to learn and practice immunological and immunochemical techniques)

Warunki zaliczenia

The lecture - a test conducted in the written form, which lasts 45 minutes and contains 20 open questions. 60% of the max points are required to get the pass mark credit. Laboratory - pass mark credit of all exercises (open test - 60% of points scored are required to get the pass mark credit) and practical skills.
