Cel przedmiotu

To acquaint the student with the IBM DB2 or Oracle database management system. Gaining by the student the knowledge and skills in the field of creating and managing database objects in DB2 / Oracle systems. Getting to know the mechanism of transactions and the problems of concurrent access to data. Understanding the rules for ensuring data security. Acquiring by the student the skills of database backup and recovery. Getting to know XML in databases.

Wymagania wstępne

The student should complete the following courses: Databases 1. Basics of programming.

Zakres tematyczny

Lecture / Laboratory:

  1. IBM DB2 or Oracle database management system. Acquaintance with tools and the environment.
  2. Creating and managing database objects in the DB2 / Oracle system (schemas, tables, views, indexes, aliases, sequences).
  3. SQL in the DB2 / Oracle system.
  4. Transaction management. Concurrency, blocking, transaction isolation levels.
  5. Data security. Methods of authorization, user and authorization management.
  6. Backup and recovery of the database (full, incremental, online, offline backups).
  7. Using XML in a database.
  8. Stored procedures and triggers.

Metody kształcenia

Lecture: seminar lecture.

Laboratory: laboratory exercises in the computer lab.

Warunki zaliczenia

Lecture: the grade is based on the results of a written test (consisting of test questions and open tasks).

Laboratory: the grade is based on: checking the level of preparation of students and their activity during the laboratory; two tests with practical tasks of various difficulty levels.

The condition for completing the course is obtaining a positive grade from the lecture and laboratory. The grade for the course is the arithmetic mean of grades from the lecture and laboratory.
