Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to teach morphology, anatomy, physiology, and behaviour of insects in evolutionary context, the effect of evolutionary processes on insect systematics, and the role of insects in the formation of biosphere.

Zakres tematyczny

The concept of species. Fundamentals of biological classification. Methids in phylogenetic analysis. Position of insects in the system of living organisms. Functional and evolutionary morphology. Systematic review of insects in a phylogenetic order: extinct and extant insects. Ecological and behavioural consequences of insect evolution: evolution of insect societies, adaptative radiation od herbivorous insects
