Social Movements - opis przedmiotu

Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to analyze social movements within European and non-European states in various periods of time, supported by theoretical foundations revealing their essence. It is also important to present selected examples of social movements, paying attention to various socio-political circumstances accompanying their formation within democratic and non-democratic societies, as well as discussing the positive and negative effects of the activity of the discussed social movements, particularly in the widely understood mental and ideological sphere.

Zakres tematyczny

Theoretical issues concerning social movements and presentation of those selected (from among anti-globalist and alter-globalist, pacifist, anarchist, populist, nationalist, racist, feminist or religious movements).

Metody kształcenia

Multimedia presentations; work with texts; work with audiovisual material; individual work; work in groups.
