Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to improve language competence and communication within the range of level B2 + according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to the extent: the use of a foreign language for the purposes of the study, and in particular, the skillful use of a variety of foreign source materials, media, popular science and specialist literature, continue learning within the selected specialization on foreign universities, work professional or scientific with the use of a foreign language.

Wymagania wstępne

Knowledge of a foreign language at the level B2.

Zakres tematyczny

  1. Selected issues relating to sociological phenomena in the modern world (e.g. migration, labour market, globalization, nationalism, xenophobia, racism).
  2. Interpretation of statistical data (statistics, indicators, percentages, charts, diagrams).
  3. Problems and threats of the modern world.
  4. Demographic issues (changes, current trends, projections).
  5. Religious systems.

Metody kształcenia

Communication method, discussion, working with scientific text in foreign language,group work, brainstorming.

Warunki zaliczenia

Class pass: verification methods for learning outcomes:

-two mid-term exams written in semester containing open and closed questions and obtaining a minimum of 50% of correct answers; student receives a grade of a mid-term exam by the following points thresholds:

50-60%- satisfactory

61-70%- satisfactory plus

71-80%- good

81-90%- good plus

91-100%- very good

-short tests: point thresholds as above

-active participation in classes.

Classes grade will be the arithmetic mean of all partial grades.

Final grade: the final grade is the grade of the classes
