Cel przedmiotu

Preparing the student for providing with the professional nursing patients of incurables, in the terminal state period of illness and their carers.

Wymagania wstępne

Ability of the assessment of needs bio-psycho-social of man, knowledge in anatomy, of physiology, pathobiology, ethics, the internal medicine and the nursing of internal medicine, basic knowledge in psychology of man, sociology and pedagogy. Demonstrating abilities: communications. Depicting attitude the respect for the autonomy and human dignities.

Zakres tematyczny

Lectures

  1. Palliative care and hospice.
  2. Communicating with the sick person and his family.
  3. Supporting illness for the family in the period and mournings.
  4. Manifestations appearing at sick persons with the advanced cancerous process.
  5. The radiotherapy and the chemotherapy in the palliative care
  6. Of complicating the radiotherapy and the chemotherapy in the, nutritional, reproductive, erythrogenic respiratory system.
  7. States requiring the long-term treatment: ulcerations, bedsores.
  8. Methods of relieving pain and principles of the treatment.
  9. Cachexia and anorexia.
  10. Cancer sydromes.
  11. Unconventional courses of treatment in the palliative care.
  12. Recurring cancers.
  13. Rules of correct filling medical prescriptions and nurse tasks on special use food and medical products

CSM

Evaluation of pain depending on chosen scale and choosing right methods of relieving and reducing pain.

Class

  1. The organization and managing in the palliative care.
  2. Terminal period in chosen systemic illnesses.
  3. Significance of palliative medicine and looking after on examples: of pain, airlessness, fear, depression, of the tiredness, constipations, nausea and the vomiting, of cachexia; bedsores, ulceration of cancerous lymphatic swelling.
  4. Quality of life in the palliative care.
  5. Mourning, acting in the mourning period.
  6. Role of the nurse in multidiscipline team of the palliative care.
  7. Procedures and standards in the palliative care.
  8. Independent distribution of special use food and medical products.

Practical /Traineeship

  1. Role of the nurse in relieving total pain.
  2. Role of the nurse in the symptomatic treatment.
  3. The planning, organising and taking care of the sick person in the terminal period of illness and above of him with carers.
  4. The most frequent manifestations, complaints and problems of the sick person.
  5. Cancerous- pain kinds of the procedure and the control of pain at sick persons in the terminal period of illness – role nurses.
  6. Specific character of the process of nursing sick persons terminal.
  7. Rules of conduct of an interdisciplinary team of the palliative care - role of the nurse.
  8. A constant refinement of the palliative care is needed.
  9. Issues of researches in palliative medicine.
  10. Priorities and ethical dilemmas in the palliative care.
  11. Usage of special use food and medical products during specified diseases and bio-psycho-social situations.

 

Self-education

Preparing the written work under direction of the teacher to the chosen subject grasping issues discussed on classes.

Metody kształcenia

Conventional lecture, method of cases discussion, situational method, individual conversation, written credit, independent studying, essay, film, exercises of practical skills, group work.

Warunki zaliczenia

Active presence at classes, mastering the knowledge and predicted abilities with program. Test. To the examination a student which ranked is proceeding practising the Exercise for the positive evaluation - ranking with the evaluation. Practical -ranking with the evaluation. Traineeship - ranking with the evaluation. Self-education - ranking without the evaluation. Ranking exercises: obtaining the positive assessment which they are conditioning is a Base of ranking exercises: active participation of the student in classes, positive assessment written works from fragmentary tests, positively assessed in the scope presented of programme material and prepared process of looking after based on the case study in chosen disease cancer. Ranking lectures in the form of test after getting the 60% of positive replies. Passing an examination positive assessment from the test of the knowledge including contents of the object. The self-education includes contents from given literature of object - preparation of the dissertation for the set subject. Due including the subject is a base of the credit, selection of literature, transparency of the representation form of the issue. An examination is being conducted in writing, consists in random choice 5 questions from the pool of 100 questions and the written reply, assessed in the scale of 0-5 points. from the object she/he is final arithmetic mean of obtained evaluations from the examination, exercises and the practical.
