Operations Research - opis przedmiotu

Cel przedmiotu

Transfer of basic knowledge and the acquisition of operational research skills and competences by students which will be used in further education and which will be useful in future professional work.

Zakres tematyczny

Lecture

The essence and genesis of operational research. Linear programming, fundamentals and applications: the geometric and simplex methods, the biphasic method and the M-method, special cases, duality and sensitivity analysis. Integers programming, that is, discreet optimisation, in the problem of operational optimisation. Transport and allocation issues. Comparative analysis of multi-criteria in optimisation issues. Selected methods of network programming. Queuing systems.

Project

Development of individual and group projects on:

• geometric methods for solving operational research issues
• simplex methods for constraints of various types and sensitivity analysis
• dealing with dual issues
• issues related to integers
• transportation, allocation and travelling salesmen issues
• network methods: maximum flow, shortest path, CPM, PERT
• the queuing systems.

Metody kształcenia

Conventional lecture.

Project - individual and group work of students using the literature and notes from lectures.

Warunki zaliczenia

Lecture: graded credit. The rating is issued based on a written exam covering the verification of the knowledge of the issues from the curriculum.

Project: graded credit. The assessment is based on a component that evaluates the ability to perform project tasks, prepare a report and a component for the student's "defence" of his or her report.

Final score: the arithmetical average of the scores from each type of class.
