The aim of education is to provide basic information on the specificity of the specialty surgical. Getting to know the surgical examination of the patient, diagnostics of surgical diseases, recognizing the symptoms of the "acute abdomen", as well as recognizing congenital and acquired defects development, diagnosis of surgical infections. The student learns the algorithms of proceeding in emergencies, including diagnostics and preparation for surgery.
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pathomorphology.

1. History of surgery. Legal aspects of surgery.
2. Examination of a surgical patient.
3. Types and treatment of wounds. Wound healing. Surgical tools and supplies.
4. Preparation of the patient for surgery and perioperative management.
5. Water and electrolyte management of surgical patients.
6. Anesthesia and analgesic treatment in surgery.
7. Nosocomial infections and antibiotic therapy in the surgical ward.
8. Minor surgery, nosocomial infections.
9. Acute abdomen, peritonitis, septic shock.
10. Appendicitis.
11. Intestinal obstruction.
12. Gastrointestinal bleeding.
13. Burns and frostbite.
14. Laparoscopic surgery.
15. Basic knowledge and organ transplantation.
16. Fundamentals of transplantation surgery.
17. Organization of the operating block. Asepsis and antisepsis.
18. Pediatric surgery and pediatric urology.
19. Oncological surgery.
20. Abdominal hernias.
21. Chest and abdominal injuries.
22. Diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy in surgery.

Exercises:
1. Subjective and objective examination of patients, tactics and planning of treatment of patients surgical. Preparation of the patient for surgery.
2. Medical documentation, patient's consent to surgical and diagnostic procedures. injections, collection of material for laboratory tests, evaluation of laboratory and imaging tests.
3. Wound healing. Purulent infections in surgery. Asepsis: dressing room, dressings, desmurgia.
4. Basic procedures in the surgical department. Prevention and treatment of complications perioperative. Bacterial infections. nosocomial infections. Diagnostic tests in surgery.
5. Operating block: surgical washing, moving around the operating block, basic surgical instruments, sewing lessons, surgical sutures. Treatment planning operational.
6. HED - first aid in surgery, acute abdomen, burns, injuries.
7. Burns, burn scars. Shock (types and treatment). Bleeding and use blood substitutes in surgery. Water and electrolyte disorders.
8. General surgery, oncology and proctology clinic.
9. Central endoscopic laboratory - endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract.
Seminars - case reports of patients in the surgical ward
Clinical classes are held in the form of exercises in surgical wards and outpatient clinics surgical procedures, including the management of the patient in the admission room. Lectures in the form multimedia presentations. Seminars in the form of presentations and discussions based on clinical cases.

Attendance at classes is a condition for admission to the course. Two are allowed excused absences, which the student should make up in consultation with the teacher. Practical skills are verified on an ongoing basis during clinical classes based on observation student activity. Preparation for clinical classes is verified in oral or written form. Final pass (test) in test form - 50 single-choice questions. Passing the test - 94-100% = 5.0; 85- 93% = 4.5; 76-84% = 4.0; 68-75% = 3.5; 60-67% = 3.0; 0-59% = 2.0. The test score is a grade final. In case of failing the test, it is possible to retake it once. Improvement will be in orally conducted by the course coordinator.
