Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basics of documentary photography and the basic assumptions of digital photography. Skillful use of basic photographic equipment, selection of lenses, exposure correction, image color management. Communicating a clear, objective and legible message using photography. Skilful presentation of objects, spaces and events. Giving an individual tone and character to documentary performances in the artistic aspects of the tasks performed.

Prerequisites

Technical mastery of the tools necessary to carry out the tasks included in the area of documentary and creative photography. Mastering the language of photography for a clear and objective description of space, events and objects. The ability to create and control the conditions necessary for the proper implementation of the tasks set. Skillful manipulation of digital images through the use of up-to-date photo processing software. Skillful recognition of technical problems contained in the painting. Optimal selection of tools for the implementation of photographic tasks.

Scope

Work in studio conditions. Technical photography, e.g. reproductions of flat and spatial objects. Production of documentary photographic series. The ability to make a photographic report. Creating a photo archive. Implementation of commissioned tasks with strictly defined image parameters. Working with the available lighting, taking photos in studio conditions using continuous and flash light.

Implementation of obligatory subjects according to specific technical requirements.

Teaching methods

Implementation of exercises in studio conditions, outdoor work, individual correction, group discussions. Work in a digital darkroom. Systematic reviews of works.

Systematic and active participation in classes.
