Cel przedmiotu

The studio's programme includes: developing skills in designing corporate or trademark signs, designing pictograms, emblems and graphic signs, understood as basic elements of visual identity. The poster as a cultural, social and ideological message. Book and illustration as graphic forms of communication. Preparation in the design of publications, leaflets, folders, catalogues, magazines, books. Typographic issues, text and image composition. Basics of typographic construction. Colour as an element in the design process, processed digitally. The ability to prepare designs for printing. History and current trends in corporate identity design.

Wymagania wstępne

Portfolio presentation covering the fundamentals of graphic design. Use Adobe Creative Suite CC graphic design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Ability to compose text and images, knowledge of graphic design concepts.

Zakres tematyczny

Exercises include: designing corporate or trademark signs, designing pictograms, emblems and graphic signs, understood as basic elements of visual identification and visual communication in public and advertising spaces. Poster design with particular emphasis on typographic layouts. The use of illustration in book projects (publication), layout design and the ability to apply it in practice. Typographic design, from prophetic knowledge to developed individual realisations. Students will learn to use visual hierarchy, rhythm and the importance of colour in a projects/composition.

Metody kształcenia

Students will be required to complete assignments using the theoretical foundations of graphic design given in the form of presentations, visual references, inspirations and examples, and short lectures. Assignments should be completed in the following stages: establishing the general idea of the project, making hand sketches, digitising in a graphic design programme. Students work individually on the project each week, allowing them to immerse themselves in the creative thinking process and make appropriate design choices.  Students also prepare materials and work independently outside the studio. The final stage of the project is the creation of a mock-up delivered as a digital file and the printing of the final approved design (poster, illustration, book, visuals).

Warunki zaliczenia

Credit with marks. 
Exercises - the grade for the exercises consists of the results achieved in individual project consultations (80%) and class activity (20%).

Obligatory attendance in class. Completion of quantitative designated exercises in the semester (year) area with the possibility to choose from the full range of proposals.
Activity and engagement in class and quality of skills acquired.

Participation in classroom and online classroom, meet, project consultations.
Completion of term assignments by the due date and submission as: electronic version for review (google drive), files for printing and, in the case of animations, a film, saved in the appropriate format indicated.
