Aim of the course

To familiarize the student with the basic methods of managing corporate finances.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the fundamentals of economics and accounting.

Scope

Lecture:

Basic concepts: interest rate, variability of the value of money over time, repetition of selected elements of financial mathematics (1 hour).

Risk in business activity (1 hour)

Capital structure and cost of capital (2 hours).

External sources of financing. Analysis of the need for external financing (2 hours)

Financial analysis: balance sheet analysis and ratio analysis (profitability, liquidity, debt and activity) (4 hours).

Net working capital management (1 hour)

Break-even point. Operating and financial leverage (1 hour)

Studying the profitability of investment projects (2 hours).

Test (1 hour)

Exercises

Accounting exercises in the field of variability of the value of money over time and selected elements of financial mathematics (4 hours).

Valuation of securities as a source of capital (2 hours)

Exercises in risk and portfolio analysis (1 hour).

Accounting exercises in estimating the cost of capital (2 hours).

Project profitability analysis (2 hours).

Comparison of credit and leasing - exercises (1 hour)

Discussion of project results from financial analysis (profitability, liquidity, debt and activity) (1 hour)

Test (2 hours)
