The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge about the nature of the mutual relations between the economy and the environment. The knowledge about the industrial revolution and its consequences is also significant, as well as ecological barriers to development (raw materials, spatial, limited environmental services, environmental footprint), external costs of the functioning of enterprises and anthropogenic aspects of human activity.

Lecture: Ecological problems in the theory of economics - a retrospective approach. Economics of the environment and natural resources versus ecological economics. The industrial revolution and its consequences. Environmental footprint and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). External effects. Ecological and economic perspective of the management and development processes. The concept of circular economy (Polish: GOZ) and C2C. Sustainable production and consumption. The ecological paradigm of economics in the pursuit of a sustainable economy. Brundtland Report. Sustainable development its indicators.
Practicals: Effectiveness and efficiency in resource management, ecological footprint, external costs (according to A. Pigou), social costs generated by enterprises, global environmental barriers.
Conventional lecture. Practicals: classic problem method, discussion; work in groups - a written work on environmental economics on a selected example (speech with a multimedia presentation).

The student is required to obtain a credit for the lecture with a grade (exam). A positive grade for the lecture is given to a student who obtains at least 60% of correct answers in a test containing open-ended questions or an online test (K_W02, K_W04).
In order to pass the practicals, the student is required to:
1) pass a test consisting of open questions (credit is awarded to a student who gives at least 60% of correct answers) (K_W02, K_W04) and
2) preparation of a written work and a multimedia presentation on topics related to aspects of environmental economics and natural resources, (K_U09, K_U10, K_K05, K_K08).
The final grade for the subject will be the arithmetic mean of the grades obtained from the practicals and the lecture, assuming that both grades will be at least satisfactory.
