Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge about actions that constitute a threat in the event of threats occurring on a macroeconomic scale. The aim of the course is to form a student who can indicate the direction and consequences that include economic phenomena.

Wymagania wstępne

Obtained a positive pass in the Microeconomics course taught in semester I.

Zakres tematyczny

Lecture

1. Definition and definition of the subject of economics. Microeconomics and macroeconomics as branches of economics. Positive and normative economics. Economic categories and laws. Tools and methods of economic analysis. The essence of economic growth and development. Basic macroeconomic categories. 2. Determinants of economic growth in the short and long term. Budget and fiscal policy. The essence and role of the state budget in the market economy. Taxes in the budget revenue system. Deficit and public debt. Fiscal policy as a method of economic policy. Money and the monetary system in a market economy. The essence and evolution of money. Functions and characteristics of money. Factors determining the demand and supply of money. Cost of holding money, inflation rate, interest rate and bond price. 3. Cyclical development of the market economy. 4. Employment and unemployment in a market economy. International trade. Elements of trade policy. Balance of payments and exchange rates. World economy.

Exercises

1. Ways to calculate GDP. Determinants of national income in the short term. Components of global demand and their determinants. Balanced national income. Factors of economic growth. The limits of economic growth. Budget revenues and expenses. Taxes in the budget revenue system. 2. Credit system. Banks as economic entities. Functions of banks in a market economy. Creation of bank money by commercial banks. Types of economic fluctuations. Features and theories of the business cycle. Types, causes and effects of unemployment. State policy on the labor market. Inflation and anti-inflation policy. Phillips curve. Relationships between inflation and unemployment: views of monetarists, neoclassicals, Keynesians. The impact of foreign trade on national income and the economic situation. Foreign trade multiplier.

Metody kształcenia

Conventional lecture with elements of a conversation lecture. The exercises include a classic problem analysis of issues covered by the curriculum using basic economic categories. Didactic discussion referring to theoretical knowledge and observations of students, teaching them to express their opinions and argue on economic issues. Solving practical problems in macroeconomics.

Warunki zaliczenia

The condition for passing the lecture is obtaining a positive grade in the written exam consisting of four open questions covering the issues presented during the lecture. Questions scored on a scale of 0 to 1 point. every 0.25 points Positive grade after obtaining a minimum of 2.25 points. The condition for passing the exercises is to obtain a positive grade in the colloquium consisting of three open questions and one mathematical task. Questions scored on a scale of 0 to 1 point. every 0.25 points Positive grade after obtaining a minimum of 2.25 points. An additional criterion taken into account when issuing the final grade for the exercises is the activity during classes marked by the instructor. Student activity at least 60%. classes translates into an increase of half the final grade.
