Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the lecture is to instruct students of stages of origination and development of mathematics and history of formation of its  concepts  in a chosen field..

Zakres tematyczny

We present general information concerning mathematics in the palaeolithic era  and the historical era with the devision on different cultures : Egypt, Peru, Indies , China, Greece , Arabian culture and Europe. We pay attention to achievements in different cultures and , in particular, to the development of numerical systems and concepts of geometry.

We  present a detailed development of a chosen field of mathematics and emphasize on the development of the concepts of this field.The main field presented in this part of lecture is mathematical analysis. We present the development of the concept of function and differential and integral calculus that has been leading to the modern stage of mathematics.

Metody kształcenia

Traditional lecture, open to discussion and expressing opinions by students.

Warunki zaliczenia

Credit for the course: 50% class + 50% lecture.  Positive evaluation both of the class and the lecture.
