Knowledge:
Introducing the student to fundamental concepts, definitions, and terminology related to urban planning, as well as the directions in shaping contemporary urbanism.
Skills:
Developing skills in the principles of designing urban complexes for multifamily residential development.
Personal and social competencies:
Fostering imagination, intuition, a creative mindset, and independent thinking in the context of original exploration of urbanistic solutions. Presenting one's own ideas and design concepts, expressing opinions on interdisciplinary aspects of design, and raising awareness of the cultural-creative aspect of urban planning.
No prerequisites.
Arrangements of housing complexes in the city. The impact of location conditions and the manner of shaping the buildings and greenery of the estate on the quality of life of its inhabitants. The genesis of the development of housing estates. The structure of housing estate areas. Social infrastructure of housing estates. Types, types and layouts of residential buildings in the country and in the world. Principles of situating residential buildings in the estate. Devices of road communication and municipal infrastructure in the estate. Service facilities and the principles of their location in the estate due to the type of use and accepted accessibility to them. Landscaping in a residential complex.
Architectural and urban composition: contemporary ideas and principles of shaping the spatial structure of a modern city and sustainable development; functional and spatial relations in a contemporary residential complex; spatial, cultural and natural contexts, motivations and pretexts for shaping the mutual relations of urban spaces, with particular emphasis on residential architecture (services, recreation, communication).
Site Analysis and References. The designed spaces are to be used to search for and indicate a model solution.
Developing skills in the principles of proper design of functions and mutual relations of elements of the composition of residential architecture complexes (public, semi-public, private spaces, communication, recreation, greenery) considering applicable law. The entire urban layout should be supplemented with an accompanying function appropriate for the development
Detailed spatial analysis of the selected area and preparation of a land development project on a scale of 1:500, 1:1000 with detailed urban details (with a description of all plot elements). parking spaces, maneuvering spaces, etc. External connections within the scope of the planned infrastructure in the designed building. The designed geometry of the terrain, along with the necessary height marks for the terrain and the building. Places for collecting waste, places for rest and recreation, arranged greenery.
Teaching Methods:
1. Expository Methods:
Lectures that cover knowledge about basic concepts and elements of urban design for urban development are conducted in a conventional manner using audiovisual aids.
2. Exploratory Methods:
Project workshops focused on students acquiring practical skills are conducted in project teams. These teams perform individual and collective inventory and design tasks. The goal is to foster a creative mindset and the exploration of new design ideas while respecting the cultural continuity of the area covered by urban planning development.

Lectures:
During the lectures, students are subject to knowledge assessment related to basic concepts and definitions of urban planning documentation and the primary elements shaping urban space. Their knowledge of fundamental methods and techniques for urbanistic analysis is also evaluated.
Project:
In the final urbanism task, students are expected to include collected and processed project data at a level of correctness and sophistication that aligns with the scope of the design exercise program. They present a jointly developed project for a single-family residential development in a suburban area with their project team for assessment.
Students are assessed based on their overall performance, attendance, activity, engagement, and consistency.
