Cel przedmiotu

Knowledge: Familiarization with spatial planning issues, including basic tools of spatial policy, methods for preparing analyses of external and internal factors, and the interpretation of their results. Also, an introduction to contemporary urban transformation trends.

Skills: The ability to develop and present a spatial development project for a building complex, including green spaces and selected urban amenities. Proficiency in developing and reading a local spatial development plan for a chosen urban area.

Personal and social competencies: Cultivating imagination, intuition, a creative attitude, and independent thinking in the pursuit of original urban planning solutions. Presenting one's own ideas and design concepts, expressing opinions on interdisciplinary aspects of planning. Sensitization to the need for collaboration with specialists at all stages of the project cycle.

Zakres tematyczny

Course program:

Knowledge necessary to design studies of conditions and directions of spatial development on the example of communes and cities in accordance with applicable legal acts.

Analyzes of ecological, economic and social conditions to the extent necessary for design purposes. Project: study of conditions and directions of spatial development; shaping the functional-spatial and socio-economic structure of medium-sized communes and cities (with a population of about 5,000 - 15,000) on the basis of analyzes and examined conditions, mutual relations of workplaces and places of residence as well as sports and recreation and leisure areas, determining the possibilities and barriers to city development in the context of sustainable development.

Design part:

1. External and internal conditions, urban and architectural inventory of a selected small town, analyzes and conclusions, descriptive and graphic part

2. External and internal conditions determining the existing method of development and use of the area covered by the study, descriptive and graphic part

3. Analysis and synthesis of conditions - defining barriers and opportunities for sustainable development of a small town

4. Spatial analysis and study, general distribution of land functions in the city and spatial development strategy of the city

5. The concept of the functional and spatial layout of a small town

6. Development of a project for connecting various functions of the areas, hierarchical structure of the road and pedestrian communication system

7. Comprehensive design study - descriptive and graphic part of the study of conditions and directions of spatial development of a small town.

Metody kształcenia

Conveying methods: Introductory lectures during project classes - conventional, problem-based, conversational, and informational communication.

Exploratory methods: Project sessions - interdisciplinary education, fostering a creative attitude, searching for design ideas and new forms, discussion, individual and group work following a detailed schedule of activities.

Warunki zaliczenia

Submission of complete partial studies and the final design elaboration for evaluation, comprising both graphical and descriptive components, prepared in accordance with the instructor's guidelines.

Student receives a passing grade based on the result of an exam (using a scale of at least 3.0 to a maximum of 5.0) and attendance in lectures and laboratories.

Lectures: The assessment of the learning outcomes from lectures involves establishing criteria based on a positive grade from the exam, using a scale from at least 3.0 (pass) to a maximum of 5.0 (excellent), and attendance.

The student  evaluation is based on the overall quality of their work, attendance in classes, activity and engagement.
