The goal in terms of knowledge is to acquaint students with technical solutions used in general construction, particularly building components and the details of technological connections in both traditional and modern construction. The specific nature of these solutions depends on material properties, including physical, structural, and ecological characteristics.
The goal in terms of skills is to teach students the appropriate selection of materials and the related construction technologies used in construction.
The goal in terms of personal and social competencies is to prepare students for the proper selection of materials and technologies used in construction for specific projects, considering safety, aesthetics, durability, and environmental concerns.
No prerequisities.
Structures and elements of the building. Discussion of the functions and characteristic features of individual elements of the building with the use of an axonometric section. Identification of individual elements in the photos of sample objects.
Foundations and foundation problems, structural and partition walls, ceilings, stairs, thermal and anti-moisture insulation, chimneys, ventilation, terrace structures, steep, flat and "green" roofs and other construction problems. Functional solution and construction system - integration of architectural ideas and solutions technical. Inspiring students to search for architectural expression in construction solutions.
Material conditions in the shaping of structural elements. New materials and their influence on the architectural form. Systematics of structural elements. Systematization of design issues in the field of shaping the form. Functional solution and construction system - integration of architectural ideas and technical solutions. Representativeness and symbolism in structural forms. Principles of combining elements into a structural system. Overview of the most important material and technical solutions.
Conveying methods: Conventional, problem-based, conversational, and informational communication.
Exploratory methods: Project sessions and laboratory sessions, which involve interdisciplinary education, fostering a creative attitude, searching for design ideas and new forms, facilitating discussion, individual work, and group work following a detailed schedule of activities.
