LaTeX - opis przedmiotu

Cel przedmiotu

Acquiring the ability to prepare documents in the LaTeX format - the world's format for publishing mathematical works and more. Learning about issues such as configuring a document, filling it with content, controlling the appearance of the text, selecting a font and size, formatting paragraphs, inserting graphic elements, color management, preparing work for exposure and printing, exporting to files in PostScript, PDF, XML and HTML, typesetting documents in "non-Latin" languages.

Basic computer skills.

Zakres tematyczny

1. Basic elements of composition and methods of implementation.
2. Installation of the MikTeX distribution and the TeXstudio utility program.
3. Document skeleton, cover, title pages, additional elements, e.g. dedication, afterword, etc., main text, header ("live" page), footer, footnotes.
4. Text input and flow.
5. Typography.
6. Creating tables, calculations, mathematical formulas.
7. Working with graphics, combining graphics with text.
8. Formatting document elements.
9. Pagination.
10. Creating indexes, tables of contents, bibliographies.
11. Color management in a document.
12. Printing and exporting to PostScript, PDF, XML, HTML files.
13. Typesetting documents in "non-Latin" languages, e.g. Arabic, Japanese, etc.

Each topic is covered according to the following scheme: 1) Introduction to the topic by the teacher, illustrated with examples. 2) Students complete subsequent examples on their own during classes. 3) Then each student receives a different task to complete outside of classes with a deadline. 4) Completion of the task for the next topic is assessed in the form of an interview.

Warunki zaliczenia

The condition for passing is obtaining over 50% of the points from the weighted average grades:

1. activities during classes
2.  completed tasks,
3. reports from laboratories,
4. colloquium.
