Familiarizing the student with selected methods of statistical inference.
Mathematical analysis, probability theory and mathematical statistics.
1. Statistical model. The purpose of statistical research, statistical space, concept of a sample, statistics, and basic concepts related to estimation and hypothesis testing.
2. Statistical inference regarding parameters in the normal model.
3. Statistical inference regarding a two-point distribution parameter.
4. Goodness-of-fit tests.
5. Comparison of two populations (including dependent samples). Estimation and hypothesis testing in families of normal distributions and two-point distributions.
6. Analysis of variance. One-way and two-way classification.
7. Rank methods. Rank tests of independence. Spearman's and Kendall's rank correlation coefficients. Wilcoxon test.
8. Selected methods of qualitative data analysis.
9. Factor analysis.
The lecture is presented using slides for some parts and in a traditional form for others (transformations of formulas, proofs of theorems, and solved examples). During the labs, students solve tasks with hypothetical and real data using a selected statistical package and applying relevant theoretical tools.

2. Written exam with questions directly related to theoretical concepts (definitions, theorems) and multiple-choice questions testing the understanding and ability to apply the discussed methods of statistical inference.
The condition for taking the exam is a positive grade in the laboratory, which is obtained after obtaining at least 50% of the maximum sum of points in two written tests. The condition for passing the course is a positive grade in the exam. The course grade consists of the laboratory grade (60%) and the exam grade (40%).
