Aim of the course

The course aims to enable students to further develop their speaking and writing skills, as well as the ability to read with understanding specialist texts and articles in English. It will help students to develop their ability to apply specialist language and vocabulary in speech. The course helps to revise and extend vocabulary used in specialist language.

Prerequisites

B1+/B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages specified by the Council of Europe.

Scope

​​​​During the course students will learn to or improve their ability to:

  • understand and use grammar structures used in specialist language of their field of study
  • expand vocabulary used in specialist texts and articles
  • understand and answer questions concerning their field of study
  • exchange of specialist information concerning their field of study
  • participate in discussions concerning issues relating to their field of study
  • search for information in specialist texts 

 

Teaching methods

Team work, specialist texts analysis - translation, discussion, multimedia presentation, lexical and grammar exercises.

Assignment conditions

Classes – grade: a condition for receiving a credit are positive marks for tests, presenting student's own work during the class class, and participating in class discussions.
