Aim of the course

Submitting a thesis fulfilling the criteria of a master's thesis and written under the supervision of a supervisor.

The work should provide a global overview of the selected problems and methods of solving these problems as well as presention of the conclusions.

During the work on thesis, students learn the methodology of searching for source materials and proper use of them, editing technical texts, applying copyright.

Prerequisites

The student's opinion on his/her own research interests and a knowledge of the literature on the topic of work. Basics in editing technical texts and preparing drawings and graphs illustrating the obtained results.

Scope

The thematic scope concerns a specification of the thesis topic in correspondence to the student's interests and justification of his/her willingness to undertake the appropriate problem. The proper literature and the methods of work should be chosen in correspondence to the selected topic. In case of experimental work, the student conducts experimental research, describes the apparatus and results and, finally, interprets it. In the case of theoretical work the student solves a theoretical problem using appropriate mathematical methods and symbolic or numerical calculations. Theoretical work can also be a review of problems which has been already studied in literature.

Teaching methods

Discussions with the supervisor on particular stages of work, self-study with literature and research apparatus, drawing graphs and graphics using appropriate software, discussion on obtained results.

Assignment conditions

Submitting a thesis which meets the criteria of the master thesis.
The work should include:
- a clearly defined research problem,
- references to the basic literature of the subject,
- description of methods used to solve the problem (techniques, research tools is applied).
