Aim of the course

Recognition and development of students’ mental and manual and familiarising them with the basic methods of pictures i a given painting technique. Opportunities for the students to gain necessary experience and skills that will enable them to create their own work. Developing in students an awareness of individual creativity and self-realisation. The subject includes familiarizing painting techniques: watercolor, gouache, crayon, oil, acrylic, collage.

The thematic scope of the subject emphasizes the balance of the workshop and theoretical basis of student development. The starting point is the approach to painting as a discipline assimilating a wide range of available means of artistic expression while mastering contemporary means of image shaping

Prerequisites

Sucessful entrance to Erasmus program.

Scope

Analytic observation of nature as a basis for any workshop activities and other classes based on direct observation.

Designing and planning of paintings (painting sketch).

Project realisation based on a study ( study of still life, study of interior, study of landscape, portrait and self-portrait, study of a person).

Getting to know expressive techniques in 2D .

The basics of the shape of an artistic work.

Synthetic observation of nature.

Classes on a free interpretation of nature.

Classes based on the use of intuition and imagination.

Individual selection of a theme and aim in painting.

Individual and conscious project realisation.

Teaching methods

Classes are run by a tutor. One to one tutorials. Assistance during the initial and final stages of a project is provided.

Assignment conditions

Individual feedback on the students’ onging work, discussions and tutorials. Portfolio and discussions on the achievements during the whole semester. Partticipation in classes, regular attendance and portfolio are necessary for a pass. Feedback and grade on the portfolio.
