Aim of the course

Acquiring the basic knowledge of musical instruments and acoustics and the basic skills concerning the classification of instruments and the differentiating of sound sources in music. 

Prerequisites

A pass for the entrance examinations for the first year of Music Education Studies. 

Scope

1. Sound and its features. Acoustic aspects of musical instruments. 2. Classification of instruments.
3. Woodwinds.
4. Brass.
5. Keyboard instruments.
6. Plucked string instruments.
7. Strings.
8. Percussion.
9. Electrophones.
10. Human voices.
11. Classification of music ensembles.
12. The score – notation of instruments, marks

Assignment conditions

Form of receiving a credit concerning the knowledge and skills - written test.
