Aim of the course

Familiarizing students with reptiles who are settling in the territory of Poland, with threats to this group of animals and issues related to their protection.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of biology and ecology at secondary level.

Scope

Lectures

Characteristics of all modern reptile species inhabiting the territory of Poland.

Discussion of species of uncertain status and aliens in the fauna of Poland.

Discussion on the causes of disappearance of domestic reptile populations.

Description of methods of passive and active reptile protection (overpasses, viaducts, flyovers, underpasses, warning signs, habitat maintenance, predatory behavior, creation of microbiological substitutes, formation of prisms relevant for ovine reptiles, etc.).

Presentation of issues related to major threats to the introduction of alien species.

To familiarize students with the rules of handling venomous species and how to deal with bites.

Recognition of all Polish reptile species.

Recognition of alien species.

Proceedings with potentially dangerous species.

Information lectures combined with multimedia presentations

problem solving combined with discussion

Assignment conditions

Laboratory: the condition of credit is to obtain positive assessments from the exercises to be performed within the laboratory program.

Exercise: The condition of credit is to obtain positive assessments to be implemented within the program. Participation in field activities.

Examination: written, test with score thresholds. A minimum of 60% of the total prize pool is required to obtain a positive test score.

Ratings: 5 (bdb) - over 85%; 4 (db) - 75-84%, 3 (available) - 60-74%, 2 (ndst) - less than 60%.
