Aim of the course

The acquisition of skills and competences in designing new production and service processes, as well as re-structuring existing ones. Mastering change management techniques.

Prerequisites

Basics of economics, Basics of management, Organisation of production systems, Modelling and simulation of production processes.

Scope

Lecture

Adjusting the organisational structure to the system and process management. The rôle and place of innovation in the organisational structure. Process restructuring management. Basics of designing new production and service processes. Value analysis in the restructuring of production and service processes. Re-engineering. Lean manufacturing. “Just-in-time”. Kaizen's philosophy in economic processes. Target costing (target costs). Outsourcing, insourcing and franchising. Benchmarking and economic intelligence in shaping production and service processes.

Project

Business system and process analysis. Re-engineering. Improving the organisational structure. Design, network, virtual and other structures. Competition and co-operation - outsourcing, insourcing, world-sourcing. Strategic alliances. Lean manufacturing. Kaizen's philosophy.

Teaching methods

Conventional lecture.

Project - individual and group work of students using the literature and notes from lectures, round table discussion and exchange of ideas.

Assignment conditions

Lecture: Grading, on the basis of a written test, covering verification of the basic knowledge.

Project: Grading is based on the skills assessment component, related to the implementation of project tasks and the preparation of the report and the component for their "defence" by the student.

Final rating: the arithmetical mean of grades from individual classes.
