Politics of Memory - opis przedmiotu

Cel przedmiotu

The aim of this course is to analyze the politics of memory, forms of commemoration and narratives of the past in public, academic and social discourse. Special attention will be paid to social media and online remembrance messages in the context of their role in maintaining memory and creating attitudes in society.

Zakres tematyczny

The politics of memory; forms of commemoration; memory narratives in public, academic, and social discourse; the role of internet messages in sustaining memory and in creating attitudes in society; open versus closed society; typologies of patriotism; extremism; types of attitudes toward dominant culture; typology of nationalism; fundamentalism.

Metody kształcenia

Multimedia presentations; work with texts; work with audiovisual material; individual work; work in groups.
