Aim of the course

The main learning outcome will be to learn the principles of running an innovation project in terms of intellectual property protection.

Prerequisites

Fundamentals of economics.

Scope

Lecture:

W 1. Introduction to the subject and presentation of credit conditions.

W 2. Definition of innovation, innovativeness.

W 3. Definition of an innovative project with the division into stages of implementation - TRIZ method.

W 4. Sources of intellectual property law.

W 5. Subject matter scope of intellectual property law.

W 6. Copyright and related rights.

W 7. Industrial property law.

W 8. Valuation of intellectual property.

Project:

P 1. Defining an innovative project.

P 2. Defining the project goal and analysis according to SMART, SWOT method.

P 3. Strategic plan of the project - the principle of creating stages of the project with defining control points of their realization.

P 4. Project planning. Systematic method of project analysis.

P 5. Project monitoring. Progress - effectiveness versus efficiency. 

P 6. Preparation of an applicant's application to the Polish Patent Office for protection of the applied solution.

P 7. Measuring project results - commercialisation, implementation, licensing.

P 8. Knowledge based business - Start up, Spin off, Spin out.

Assignment conditions

Lecture: evaluation based on a written test, including verification of knowledge of basic issues.

Project: project defence.

Evaluation determined on the basis of the component assessing the skills related to project realisation.

Final grade: is the arithmetic mean of the grades from the lecture and the project.
