Cel przedmiotu

“The history of social thought” aim is to familiarize students with the classical social theories and classical social philosophy.

Zakres tematyczny

Positivism - August Comte.

Evolutionism – Herbert Spencer.

Marx and Engels and the radical critique of capitalist patriarchy.

Sociologism – Emile Durkheim.

Psychologism and its social conceptions.

Social action through interpretive means – Max Weber.

Humanistic sociology – Florian Znaniecki.

Metody kształcenia

Lecturing and Power Point presentation. Discussing the readings, working out issues in groups.Individual student work (e.g. reading and analysis) according to the teacher's instructions.

Warunki zaliczenia

Written essay. Final grades: mark is based on the writtern essay and acrivities/participation in discussions durign the classes. The mark from the essay may be elevated for a half or one level. depending on the intesity of the activities.
