After completing the course, the student will have mastery of the terminology in the field of phonetics and phonology of the English language and will be be able to use the acquired knowledge in practice in accordance with the expected thematic scope of the subject.
Knowledge of the English language at a level enabling active participation in classes.
Basic issues in the field of articulatory phonetics: organs of speech and their functions, formation of sounds, basic criteria for classifying English vowels, consonants and semivowels.
The main issues in the field of normative phonetics: the English vowel and consonant systems, prosody (stress, intonation, word linking categories), the basics of phonetic transcription.
Basic issues in the field of normative phonetics (with emphasis on corrective phonetics): correction and analysis of phonetic errors, work on improving the phonic side of the language.
