Cel przedmiotu

The course aims to develop English language skills through analysis and discussion of current global events. The course is focused on presenting information and research on the most important current world events presented in the mass media. This material will be used to raise students' social awareness and provide a wide range of contexts from which to develop their language skills.

Wymagania wstępne

English: level B2 - minimum.

An understanding that the course may contain reference to material and events that some people may find offensive or of a sensitive and personal nature.

Zakres tematyczny

Analysis of various global events that are taking place around the world.
A practical analysis of the language used to describe and discuss such events.
Language skills used to initiate and maintain debates and discussions about important events.
Thematic vocabulary used to discuss and understand current global current events.

Metody kształcenia

Lectures using interactive discussion, written exercises and listening exercises. Classes will consist of multiple assignments designed to develop your English by studying current events.

The course grade consists of attendance and active participation in classes (50%) and presentation (50%).
