Cel przedmiotu

Course goals:

To understand the basic concepts and ideas of social and political philosophy.
To explore the historical and contemporary debates on social and political issues
To learn to analyze and evaluate philosophical arguments related to social and political issues
To develop critical thinking and writing skills

Zakres tematyczny

Introduction to Social and Political Philosophy. The concept of justice. Theories of justice: utilitarianism, deontology, virtue ethics. Rawls' theory of justice. The concept of liberty. Positive and negative liberty. Republicanism and the concept of freedom as non-domination. Democracy and political legitimacy. Power and authority. Feminist perspectives on social and political philosophy
