Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge of the allocation of resources and goods in the process of globalisation of the market economy and to explain the principles of its functioning. In addition, the aim of the course is to explain the basic interrelationships occurring in a developed market economy and to shape students' ability to use the knowledge gained in a practical manner.

Zakres tematyczny

Lecture:

Definition  of the subject of macroeconomics. Mainstream economics and economics of complexity (new trends). Tools and methods of economic analysis. Determinants of national income formation in the short term. Barriers to equilibrium and disequilibrium. Economic growth and development. The business cycle, causes and counter-cyclical policies of the state. Unemployment, inflation, budget and fiscal policy. International trade, balance of payments.

Exercises:

Product and national income accounting and distribution. Models of economic growth. Money, its essence, evolution and functions. Demand and supply of money. State policy on the labour market. Inflation and anti-inflationary policies. The Phillips curve and the Laffer curve.

Metody kształcenia

Conventional lecture with elements of a conversational lecture.

Classical problem analysis of issues covered in the course programme using basic economic categories as part of the exercises. Didactic discussion referring to theoretical knowledge and student observations, teaching to express one's opinion and argumentation in economic issues. Solving practical tasks in macroeconomics.

Warunki zaliczenia

The course grade consists of the grade from the lectures (50%) and the exercises (50%).

A prerequisite for passing the lecture is obtaining a positive mark in a written examination in the form of a multiple-choice and fill-in test consisting of 15-20 questions. The pass mark for the examination is 55%.

A prerequisite for passing the exercises is obtaining a positive mark in a colloquium consisting of 4-5 open questions, including an assignment, covering the issues discussed during the exercises. A student obtains a positive mark when he/she obtains at least 55% of the points provided for.

In addition, class activity is taken into account in the final evaluation.
