The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the main processes of shaping European civilization, culture and society.
1. Basic definitions of civilization and culture.
2. The emergence and development of civilization - selected interpretations.
3. Civilizations of ancient Europe.
4. Slavic Europe.
5. Muslims in medieval Spain and their influence on the culture of Europe.
6. Selected contemporary civilizations.
7. Prospects for development, cooperation and threats to modern civilizations.
8. The impact of globalization on the development of modern civilizations.
9. War in the history of human civilization.
10. Non-European civilizations.
Exercises - group work, group discussion, case study, workshop exercises, work with a book.
Lecture - conventional, with the use of illustrative material.
