Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the issues of fundamentalism and extremism and related aspects. These issues will be presented on the basis of political and religious examples. We will also discuss aspects related to terrorism.

The concept of fundamentalism and synonymous terms; Political extremism - explanation of the concept and its relativity; Religious and political fundamentalism - concepts and typology; Selected examples of religious fundamentalism; Selected examples of political fundamentalism; Political Islam at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries; Fundamentalism and terrorist attacks; Types of terrorism: left-wing, right-wing, national liberation, religious; Major contemporary terrorist organizations; Counteracting terrorism; Contemporary fascist and right-extremist movements; Religion and politics in a globalizing world.
