Aim of the course

The course aims to give the basic knowledge on the literary epochs and the works of the leading writers, from the late XIX century to the XXI century. 

Prerequisites

None

Scope

Continuity and change in the US literature from XIX century American Realism to the present times. The literary epochs will be discussed  on the basis of the selected novels, short stories, plays and poetry, e.g. H. James Daisy Miller, K. Chopin, F. S. Fitzgerald The Great Gatsby., J. Steinbeck Of Mice and Men, T. Williams Streetcar Named Desire, S. Plath, T. Morrison.

Text-based study, discussion, group work, peparing a project.

Assignment conditions

Accreditation with a grade on the basis of participation in the classes and completion of the assigned tasks, also passing the semester test (at least 60%).
