Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the themes, problems and specific characteristics of contemporary American cinema from the 1960s to the 2020s.

Cinema and television in the 1960s;

Cinema of protest and the sexual revolution;

The new generation of filmmakers (R. Altman, F. Ford Coppola, M. Scorsese, W. Allen);

Transformations within genres: science fiction, adventure films, fantasy;

New variations of horror: psychological, satanic, zombie, slasher;

Postmodern cinema: B. De Palma, the Coen brothers, Q. Tarantino;

African-American cinema;

American auteur cinema (Linklater, Jarmusch, Soderbergh);

The era of blockbusters and comic book movies;

The new era of TV series and the phenomenon of streaming platforms
