Cel przedmiotu

The course aims to deepen the students' knowledge of English speaking countries literature of the second half of the twentieth and twenty-first century; to develop the students' analytical and interpretative skills; to help them master the use of the academic discourse in literary analysis; to examine the relations between various literatures in English.

Zakres tematyczny

Lecture: English speaking countries literatures, historical and geographical conditions; multiculturalism, globalization, transnationalism, identity concerns: race, class, and
gender; posthumanism in literature; contemporary dystopias. The main focus is on the US literature; British and Canadian literature will be discussed to a lesser extent.

Metody kształcenia

Lecture: Mediated lecture, participatory lecture, problem solving lecture.

Classes: Text study, discussion, multimedia presentation, and its written counterpart (written, ordered, coherent version of the presentation).
