The aim of the course is to discuss problems connected with the gifted everyday life, their special needs, social relations, learning difficulties as well as indicate the best way of developing their potential.
Basic knowledge of cognitive processes and human development.
Various definition of giftedness: What does it mean to be profoundly gifted? Giftedness and creativity.
Characteristics of gifted children: their special needs, problems with social relations, sensitivity and overexcitabilities, perfectionism.
Diagnosis and misdiagnosis of gifted children: missed diagnosis, misdiagnosis and double diagnosis (twice-exceptional children), learning difficulties and underachievement in gifted children.
Working with gifted children: how to work with the gifted at school and support their parents, stimulating creativity, assisting development of the gifted.
Discussion, case studies. Individual student work (e.g. reading and analysis) according to the teacher's instructions.
