Cel przedmiotu

The aim of the course is to define feminism as a multiplicity of ideas and concepts explaining sources of social inequality between women and men. Presentation of the main feminist trends, successive waves of feminism and sensitivity to issues of sex discrimination.

Zakres tematyczny

Sources of feminism. The history of women's movements. Periodization of feminism (three waves of feminism). Fight for women's rights and gender equality. Categories and types of feminism (liberal feminism, radical, Marxist, socialist, cultural, psychoanalytic, existential, postmodern, multicultural, global, ecofeminism). The main problems of modern feminism (violence against women, feminist critique of science, art, theology.
