Aim of the course

1. Acquaintance with 1) diversity of religions, 2) history of particular religions 3) relations between diverse religious doctrines, 4) basic issues in religious studies.

Prerequisites

None.

Scope

1) Diversity of types of theories on religion, types of religions, aspects of religiosity.
2) Science of religions and religiology, theology and philosophy of religion.
3) Sociological, psychoanalytical and sociobiological explanations of religion.
4) The origin of Homo sapiens and its religious behavior.
5) Prehistoric religions and shamanism.
6) Confucianism.
7) Taoism.
8) Hinduism.
9) Buddhism.
10) Religion of Zoroaster.
11) Judaism.
12) Christianity.
13) Islam.

Teaching methods

Talk, lecture, work with sources, discussion, usage of multimedia technologies.

Assignment conditions

Particular classes will be ranking according to activity, multimedia presentation and verbal test. The condition of ranking the whole course will be a positive assessment of dissertation on particular subject presented in the course.
Grading conditions: (1) multimedia presentation (grade), (2) active participation in discussion (grade), (3) oral test (grade). Final grade: mean value (1)-(3).
