The aim of the course is to improve language and communication competence to the extent relevant for the B2+ level according to the Common European Framework for Languages and enabling:
- the use of a foreign language for the purposes of studying, in particular the skillful use of a variety of foreign language source materials, media, popular science and specialist literature,
- continuation of studies within the selected specialization at foreign universities,
- the use of English for professional or scientific purpose.
B2 level of English
1. Selected issues concerning sociological phenomena in the contemporary world.
2. Problems and threats of the modern world.
3. Current social trends.

The requirement to pass is active participation in class discussions (30% of general grade) and writing two mid-term tests (60%) containing open and closed questions and obtaining a minimum of 50% of correct answers; student receives a grade of a mid-term test by the following points thresholds:
50-65%- satisfactory
66-74%- satisfactory plus
75-84%- good
85-91%- good plus
92-100%- very good
Classes grade will be the arithmetic mean of all partial grades.
Final grade: the final grade is the grade of the classes
