Aim of the course

To familiarize the student with the possibilities and examples of using visual techniques in sociology, familiarizing with ethics in research using visual material, the ability to independently analyze visual material, the ability to use visual material in the illustration of sociological issues.

1. The history of the image sociology.
2. Theories of image sociology.
3. Photography as a tool for a sociologist.
4. Film as a source of data and a sociological description tool.
5. Ethics in visual sociology.

Assignment conditions

Activity during classes - collecting points for participation in class discussions, converted into a grade.
Preparation of the final work in the form of a presentation with the content agreed at the first class.
