Aim of the course

  • Familiarize with principles of computer architecture and computer networks.
  • To give basic skills in operating system configuration and management.
  • To provide basic knowledge about Active Directory and Windows Server operating system.
  • To give Power Shell scripting programming skills.

Scope

  1. Introduction to computer architecture: Mainboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, storage,  IO peripherals .
  2. Safety during work with computer hardware.
  3. Computer networks.
  4. Securing the PC.
  5. Install and configure domain controllers.
  6. Manage objects in AD DS by using graphical tools and Windows PowerShell.
  7. Implement and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  8. Manage user settings by using GPOs.
  9. Implement and manage a certificate authority (CA) hierarchy with AD CS.

Teaching methods

Lecture: classical lecture.

Laboratory: laboratory exercises using computer equipment.

Assignment conditions

Lecture – the passing condition is to obtain a positive mark from the final test.

Laboratory – the passing condition is to obtain positive marks from all laboratory exercises to be planned during the semester.

Calculation of the final grade: lecture 50% + laboratory 50%
