Aim of the course

Transfer and consolidation of basic knowledge of research methods and work time which will be used in the further education process and will prove useful in future professional work.

Prerequisites

Organisation of production systems. Management of projects and innovations.

Scope

Lecture

The history of the Toyota Motor Corporation, ways to increase productivity, TPS concepts, types of waste, basic methods of work analysis. Study of working methods, characteristics of techniques for testing, recording events and statuses, process sheets, process diagrams, cross-section of displacements, graphs with a scaled time axis. The process of searching for - and selecting- improvements. Structure of the employee's time and of machine time, methods for the testing of time consumption. Research methods for normalising work, characteristics of methods for setting work standards, normalising work according to elementary movements, procedure for elaborating working-time norms, accuracy and adaptation of norms, assessment of the quality of work norms.

Project

Issue topics in the project include: determination of product families and displacement matrices, analysis of the process cards created and the course of selected processes and development of improvements, normalisation of operation time of assembly operations for selected products.

Teaching methods

Conventional lecture.

Project: project method, independent work in teams of 2-3 people - presentation of the material developed by students in the form of multimedia, discussion of the content presented.

Assignment conditions

Lecture: Grading, on the basis of a written test, covering verification of basic knowledge.

Project: Grading is based on the skills assessment component, related to the implementation of project tasks and the preparation of the report and the component for their "defence" by the student.

Final grading - the arithmetical mean of grades obtained from individual classes.
