Aim of the course

Familiarise the students with various sculpting techniques, developing and using the acquired skills in sculpture, imagination and the awareness of space and form. Developing artistic awareness of sculpture and its use in practice. An ability to develop students’ own creative individuality.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge and skills in drawing, painting and related areas.

Scope

Preparatory instructions in sculpture workshop, spatial study of nature, study of spatial arrangement, an object in space.

Teaching methods

Developing skills through experiencing various sculpture techniques and forms,. Presenting a sculpture as an individual form of expression based on continuous experience connected with getting to know oneself and the surrounding world. Inspiring the students to make individual creative decisions, to formulate their own ideas, concepts and convictions. Encouraging the students to express their artistic problems, and opinions and look at art critically.
