Aim of the course

Acquaint students with basic knowledge about: pedagogical approaches to multicultural education, teaching strategies and practices, teacher's role in the integration process and implementation of multicultural education in the classroom 

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in Pedagogy, Psychology and Sociology

Scope

  1. Education in the context of socio-cultural diversity
  2. Perspectives and challenges in the field of multicultural education including: diversity, multiculturalism, equity, equality, stereotype, cultural assimilation, bilingual education, culturally relevant education
  3. Multicultural and multicultural education in the institutional dimension
  4. Selected projects and programs of multicultural education in comparative perspective
  5. Directions of educational policy and mukticultural education strategies in comparative perspective
  6. Implementation of the multicultural education in homogeneous and culturally diverse environments on the example of selected models
  7. Designing educational activities in the context of multicultural education

Assignment conditions

The requirement to pass is active participation in class discussions (40% of general grade) and designing an individual or group project- presentation, poster or essay- that illustrates the use of a selected course issue (60%).
