Aim of the course

The aim of course is: 1) to acquaint students with the basic knowledge on the quality of life and quality of school education and their interrelations; 2) to suggest ideas to create a concept of child-friendly schools.

Basic knowledge from the subject Introduction to Pedagogy

Scope

  1. Quality of education vs. quality in education- define attempt.
  2. Subjective and objective indicators of quality of life.
  3. Pupils-centered learning.
  4. School culture and school quality.
  5. Hidden curriculum and open curriculum.
  6. Improving the quality of school education in relation to teachers, curriculum and school management.
  7. Effective schools models and examples of alternative education.
  8. Achieving quality education.

Assignment conditions

The requirement to pass is active participation in class discussions (25% of general grade), description a report/ presentation/ poster selected from the area of quality of life and quality of school education (50%), individual/ group preparation of an essay or preparation of a portfolio (25%).
