Cel przedmiotu

The aim of education is to discuss the role of natural history museums and the law basis of museology. Presentation of the historical outline of zoological preparation in the world and in Poland. Discussing the role of zoological preparations in education and expanding knowledge. Discussion of the basic methods of collection and preservation of vertebrates and invertebrates. Preparation of museum collections.

Wymagania wstępne

Knowledge of material in the field of invertebrate zoology and vertebrate zoology.

Zakres tematyczny

1. Preparation of specimens for museum exhibitions.

2. Functions of nature warehouse. Storage of collections and related legal regulations.

3. Labeling and describing collections.

4. Concepts: typical specimen, holotype, lectotype, neotype, pleiototype, allotype.

5. Arrangements for nature exhibitions.

6. Methodology for preparing dermoplasts.

7. Preparation of educational preparations.

8. Presentations anatomical preparation.

Metody kształcenia

Multimedia lectures. Laboratory: identification and preparation of biological material.
