Aim of the course

The course aims at the basic ideas used in multimedia, and the main principles for usage of multimedia techniques for business purposes.

Prerequisites

Basic skills in computer and  technical applications usage.

Scope

  1. Basics and  genesis of multimedia technologies. 
  2. Internet, popularity of multimedia, and multimedia tools.
  3. Social networks and  multimedia content distribution.
  4. Role of image, sound and animation for multimedia in business.
  5. Sound  recording methods (analog and  digital). Audio compression.
  6. Audio files formats: wave, and mp3. Other audio formats and  conversions between the formats.
  7. Computer graphics - basics. Color models.
  8. Graphic file formats. Format choice and conversions between the graphic formats. 
  9. Application of multimedia technologies in business. 
  10. Principles for preparing and holding a business presentation.
  11. Copyright for  multimedia content.

Teaching methods

Traditional lecture. Group project in form of a multimedia presentation.
