Cel przedmiotu

The intention of the lecturer is to provide a comprehensive knowledge of: 1. the issue of the sociology of knowledge, 2. key concepts - classic and contemporary, 3. the relation of sociology of knowledge to other areas of sociology and epistemology and methodology of science.

THEMATIC SCOPE OF THE LECTURES:

  1. The concept of knowledge and its types.
  2. Sociology of knowledge and other humanistic disciplines (epistemology, sociology of science, political science).
  3. Classic sociology of knowledge (K. Marx, M. Scheler, K. Mannheim).
  4. Sociology of knowledge in view of E. Durkheim and V. Pareto, F. Znanieckiego, R. Mertona, L. Flecka.
  5. The Frankfurt School.
  6. Non-classic sociologies of knowledge.
  7. 7. The usefulness of sociology of knowledge in social research.

 

THEMATIC SCOPE OF THE CLASSES:

  1. Early anticipation of the problems associated with the sociology of knowledge and the discovery of the social constitution of human.

2. Social factors influencing the subject of cognition and the process of creating knowledge.

3. Colloquial thinking and stereotypes.

4. Categorization and mechanisms of stereotypical information processing.

5. Social origins and functions of stereotypes.

6. National stereotypes, methods of measuring and analyzing their impact on attitudes.

7. Gender stereotypes and social groups.

8. Contemporary discussion on stereotypes and colloquial thinking.

Metody kształcenia

Regular lecture and work with a literature, discussion.
